Network Administrator/Engineer

 

Customer:  National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is a Department of Defense (DoD) combat support agency and a member of the national Intelligence Community (IC).  NGA develops imagery and map-based intelligence solutions for U.S. national defense, homeland security, and safety of navigation.  NGA's mission is to provide timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security. The NGA Vision is Know the Earth...Show the Way.  Due to NGA's role as the GEOINT functional manager for the DoD and IC, there will be a number of organizations outside of NGA with requirements for FTEs utilizing this contract vehicle.

Position Description:  Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment in support of business processing requirements.  Performs software installations and upgrades to network operating systems.  Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.  Monitors and tunes the network to achieve optimum performance levels.  Ensures network integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware changes and solutions.  Ensures network redundancy and recoverability by reducing single points of failure.  Evaluates current systems.  Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.  Plans large-scale network projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.  Conducts network architecture assessments. Assists and advises government with technical design support to network acquisition specification, design, proof-of-concept prototyping, development and evaluation of network management systems.
